American Pharoah’s owner, Ahmed Zayat, said horse racing’s first Triple Crown winner in 37 years will retire at the end of 2015 after racing at least one more time.

Once he retires, the horse’s breeding rights will be valued at “substantially higher” than $20 million, Zayat said via ESPN. Affirmed was sold for $14.4 million — $46 million in today’s market — in 1979 after winning the Triple Crown.

After the Preakness, American Pharoah’s breeding rights were sold to Coolmore Ashford Stud in Kentucky.
